Both the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers have two weeks to prepare for each other because both teams have bye weeks in week 9. The winner of this game will be the undisputed #1 team in the nation.

This is the first of several polls covering the game and it will be updated with information over the next two weeks. But for now, who do you think will win and end up #1 in the BCS?

Mark Ingram was injured for the first two games of the season, and Trent Richardson did a superb job filling in for him. Both are tremendous running backs for Alabama. I think this is a tough question and I'm not sure who is the best of the two. Who do you think is Alabama's best running back, Mark Ingram or Trent Richardson?

This season, Nick Fairley has been an animal. Offensive lines have been unable to stop him. He's recorded 7.5 sacks, 18 QB hurries, and 18 tackles for a loss. For the Tigers to win, Fairley must disrupt the Tide's offensive line. For the Tide to win, they must protect McElroy from Fairley.

Auburn is 40th in the nation for sacks and Alabama is 88th in the nation for sacks allowed. Auburn's pass defense is 100th in the nation and Alabama's pass offense is 37th in the nation. Auburn has to shade their weakness in the defensive backfield with a strong performance by their Front 7. If they are able to dominate Alabama's OL, then they should be able to win the game. They must get to McElroy, whose weakness has been holding onto the ball to long.

The Iron Bowl is the most passion filled rivalry in all of college football.

If there was ever a doubt that the Tigers and Tide had a passionate rivalry, Harvey Updyke eliminated it in January. This game brings numerous feelings for people across the state and has the power to separate families.

This season will be no different as the Tigers are coming off of their National Championship run and Alabama had their own just one year prior. Both of these teams produced back-to-back Heisman winners. This year will be the battle that could change the course of the season for both teams.

Alabama is a favorite by many to win the conference and also have a shot at the national title again this season. Before the Tide is able to make it to championship week, however, they must pass through Jordan-Hare Stadium.

This season is likely to be like most others for both teams, full of ups and downs but successful, nonetheless. A few key components of the coming season will likely lead to a very good football game to end the season.

There are 11 different reasons that Auburn will win the Iron Bowl in 2011, so let’s take at how the Tigers will earn that victory.

Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer)—There's a recruit that's been committed to Alabama since October, and he hasn't gotten the fanfare that commitment deserved. On some scouting services, he has no ranking, and he's only a 3-star commit.

But why did Auburn, LSU and so many others want him so badly when he hasn't really become a household name among recruits?

His name is Caleb Gulledge, and he's from that hotbed of Alabama recruiting, Prattville, Al., that has given Alabama so much talent in the past.

So why has he not been rated higher? Mainly because he's caught between positions and hasn't made his mark at just one yet.

He's played both offensive and defensive tackle, and most scouting services don't know where to place him. Some think he'll be a defensive tackle, and others think he will wind up playing as an offensive guard. This year he will split his time yet again.

Gulledge, however, takes things in stride and trusts that the coaches at Alabama will put him in the right place. Though he prefers defense, the big 6'4", 270-pound high school senior said he'd be happy playing either position, whatever his team needed.

Such unselfishness and the fact that he was willing to pull the trigger so early for Alabama shows the Crimson Tide have landed themselves a prize recruit who is working each day to help bring other great talent into the 2012 class along with him.

Gulledge says that he is working hard this summer to muscle up some more and continue to work on his footwork and technique.

Gulledge was Bama's second commitment to the 2012 class, and since then his buddy and playing partner since elementary school, Justin Thomas, has signed on to play with the Tide too. Thomas is listed as an athlete and like Gulledge can play a variety of positions.

Together both of these young men are trying to bring yet another teammate along with them to Alabama in the person of another defensive lineman, Justin Shanks. If they succeed, that's quite a Prattville connection on the team.

The Tide already have other players from Prattville in Nick Perry, a sophomore defensive back, and Nick Gentry, a senior defensive lineman.

The Alabama Crimson Tide were defeated by the LSU Tigers 9-6 in overtime in front of their home crowd. However, despite the loss, they remained ahead of the undefeated Stanford Cardinal in the BCS Rankings. Was this just?

On January 9, 2012, the Alabama Crimson Tide dominated the LSU Tigers for the 2011 BCS Championship Title. Following the game, several Bama fans visited a Krystal's burger restaurant and found an extremely intoxicated and unconscious LSU fan laying his head on a counter. As can be seen in the video, Bama fans begin to harass and play pranks on the guy.

What seems like just a little fun, suddenly takes an awkward turn as one Bama fan decides to remove his testicles from his trousers and place them on the passed out LSU fan. This act is known as tea-bagging. The LSU fan is a complete stranger. If such an act occurred among friends, it might be laughed off. However, this is not what occurred, and according to NOLA.com the police is looking for the Bama fan to charge him with committing a sexual battery.

Has this gone a little too far? Should this be just laughed off as a drunken prank, or is it a crime that should be prosecuted?

In the final weekend of the regular 2011 college football season, the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide will travel to Auburn, AL to play the #24 Auburn Tigers in the 76th Iron Bowl. Currently, Alabama leads the series 40-34-1.

In the last two years, Alabama and Auburn have both had Heisman Trophy winners and both won the BCS National Championship. Mark Ingram won the Heisman in 2009, leading the Tide in winning the BCS National Championship Game. Cam Newton won Auburn's third Heisman Trophy in 2010, as he led the Tigers to a BCS National Championship.

This year, Alabama is in position to play for another BCS Championship, and the Tide's running back, Trent Richardson, is up for the Heisman Trophy. Richardson will need to have a huge game in the Iron Bowl in order to help lock the Heisman Trophy Award. Auburn would love nothing more than to shut him down.

Alabama is the better team, but the game is being played in Jordan Hare Stadium. Personally, I think Auburn can pull the upset because Alabama's offense is terrible. If the Tigers are able to block and create lanes for running back Michael Dyer and create turnovers, then they have a shot. What do you think?

If a team's true goals in a season are to play for and win a national title, then if a non-BCS team, such as Boise ST, is allowed to play for a National Title why should a team such as Alabama remain in a BCS conference?

As it sits right now, Alabama has to play Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina, LSU, and Auburn this season. They also chose to play Penn State in an out-of-conference match-up earlier in the year. The rest of Alabama's schedule consists of current B level programs and bottom-feeders.

Boise State, on the other hand, plays Virginia Tech and Oregon State (both teams already have 2 losses in only 4 games, and thus are currently B level programs at best). The rest of their schedule consists of lower B level programs and bottom-feeders.

If Bama wants to routinely position itself to have the best chance of playing for a BCS National Title, then why the hell would they stay in the SEC? If Boise State is able to set the precedent of a non-BCS program qualifying for the BCS National Title, then shouldn't Bama leave the SEC for a conference such as the Sun Belt, for example?

This poll isn't about the effects of teams actually doing this on College Football, which would absolutely destroy the greatest game in America--imagine a college football season with no AU vs UA or Texas vs Oklahoma, for example.

It is about the ridiculousness of a non-BCS team being allowed to play for the BCS Championship. It doesn't even make sense on paper...doesn't the fact the name of the title includes the acronym BCS mean to qualify to compete for it, you must come from a BCS conference?

3 teams in the top 5 are no longer there and each has at least 2 losses. I'm talking about Alabama, ranked #1 pre-season in the Coaches Poll, Florida, ranked #3, and Texas, who was ranked #4. Virginia Tech was ranked #6 in the pre-season coaches poll but lost its first two games, including one to a FCS opponent.

Alabama has lost two games, but should have lost 3. 9/10 games Ryan Mallett never throws the interception that lets Bama come back and win in the 4th quarter. Arkansas had them beat. Pundits on ESPN, CBS, FOX, etc were still arguing they would end up in the championship game last weekend. Wonder what they'll say now?

Florida has been a mess all season. They've struggled through many wins and lost 3 games in a row...Alabama, LSU, and Mississippi State (all from the SEC West). Somehow or another, they still have chance to win the SEC East and go to the title game. All they have to do is beat South Carolina.

Texas. 4-5. 'Nuff said.

The only top 10 team on this list that is playing great football right now is Virginia Tech. Since losing their first two games, including an unforgivable loss to an inferior FCS opponent, they have strung together 7 wins and are in position to win the ACC.

Which one of these pre-season busts was the most Over-Rated?
