I think it is fair to assume, the best bowl game this year is the 2011 Tostitos BCS National Championship Game. It involves two teams that have never played for the BCS Title. Both the Ducks and the Auburn Tigers have been snubbed by the BCS before. Finally, you have the PAC 10 vs the SEC for the first time in the BCS Championship Game. With this in mind, this poll does not include the National Championship Game. There are other great games though. From the Bowl Games Provided, What is the Best 2010-11 College Football Bowl Game to watch?
There are two bowl games that are just horrible for different reasons. The bowls are supposed to be the grand finale to a season, however, for many teams this is not the case. While there are several games that are just boring, there are two that stood out to me.Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl December 30, 2010The first horrible game is the Washington Huskies vs Nebraska Cornhuskers. The teams have already played this year!!! Who wants to see this game again. The first game was a complete blowout and bore to watch. Nebraska went to Washington and destroyed Jake Locker and his Huskies. Locker completed only 4 of 20 passes and had 2 interception, one of which was returned for a TD. The final score was 51-21. Nebraska had 533 Total Yards, including 383 Rushing Yards. Washington had a total of only 246 yards. They were thoroughly dominated. Nebraska has 10 wins this year and deserved to play a game that they want to play and fans want to watch. This isn't the case in this boring game. On the flipside, the Huskies have finally become bowl eligible and they are so over-matched in their game there is little to no hope they can win. The only way is if the Cornhuskers show up flat because they don't want to be there.MAACO Bowl December 22, 2010The other horrible game is the Boise State Broncos vs Utah Utes. Boise got screwed. There is no other way to say it. All season they were ranked in the top 3 or 4 and were hoping to slip into the National Championship game. Then their FG kicker misses two kicks and they get thrown into a December 22nd Bowl Game with only one loss? That's completely absurd. While I'm not a fan of putting Boise in the BCS Title because of the weakness of their schedule, I am also not a fan of this complete slap to the face the Broncos were given for a damn good season. They should be playing someone that has the cache to actually mean something for the program, and Utah isn't going to do it.So Which Bowl is the Worst?
Personally, I think Aaron Rodgers has already established himself as an elite NFL QB and stepped out of the shadow left by the Packers Legendary Quarterback, Brett Favre. His record and statistics speak for themselves. In only his 3rd season as the starter, Rodgers is leading his team to the Super Bowl. In the same amount of time, Favre has played with 2 different clubs, came up short in the 2010 NFC Championship Game, and this year he failed to lead his Vikings, the pre-season favorites, to the playoffs. While I don't think Rodgers should still be viewed as living under the shadow cast by Favre, there will always be people that will judge Rodgers' against Favre's in evaluating his career. Will a Super Bowl Ring help Rodgers step out of Brett Favre's Shadow?
Posted by Tom Fornelli When West Virginia takes on North Carolina State in the Champs Sports Bowl it's going to have quite a void to fill in its secondary. Head coach -- for now -- Bill Stewart announced during his press conference on Tuesday that the team's top cornerback, Brandon Hogan, will not be playing in the game thanks to a torn ACL. "It just kills me, but not near as bad as it kills him," Stewart said on Tuesday. "Brandon Hogan played with a bicep injury, one in which many wouldn't have played with -- that's how tough the kid is. I was holding out hope that he would be ready to play in this football game, for his sake and for the seniors' sake. He's such an important cog on this defense." Hogan suffered the injury during West Virginia's final game of the season against Rutgers on December 4th. The team had been hoping that Hogan would be able to put off surgery on the knee until after the game, but that's obviously not going to happen at this point. Stewart said that either sophomore Pat Miller or freshman Brodrick Jones will start in Hogan's place, and that the team may blitz more to try and make up for Hogan's absence. Why he'd give away that strategy during a press conference, I don't know. This won't be the first game Hogan has missed this season, as he was suspended earlier this season following a DUI arrest. Hogan finishes his senior season with 37 tackles and 3 interceptions.

Where do you stand on this never ending debate? Do you believe in the BCS system or do you prefer a Playoff System be put in place to decide the College Football National Champion? If a Play-off, what format?College Football Play-off Format1. Plus One: in this format, the BCS formula would be used to determine the Top 4 teams in America. Those top four teams would play each other in a play-off format. The first week, 1 and 4 would play, while 2 and 3 played. The winner of the two games would play each other. There would only be one added game to the season.2. Eight Team Play-off: similar to the Plus One except it throws the Top 8 teams in a playoff. This time there are 3 rounds, instead of just 2. If a team loses the first round, they play in a bowl against another team that lost in that round. The final four would play each other. The winners of that game would play each other for the National Title and the losers would play in a bowl game. 3. Sixteen Team Play-off: this is an all out play-off and would most likely have to do away with bowls...which isn't going to happen. But the idea is the same as the eight team playoff, except you have more games and weeks involved in the play off now.
The Big East may be the premier college basketball conference, but it absolutely stinks in college football. Last season, a Big East team got to go to a BCS game even though no teams in the Big East were in the final BCS Top 25. This year, only the West Virginia Mountaineers are currently ranked, and they are only the 23rd best team in the nation. In my opinion this is undeserving of a BCS Bowl Game and allowing them to go is rewarding mediocrity. Next year, the Big East will lose WVU, the Pittsburgh Panthers, and the Syracuse Orange because they are leaving the conference to join the Big 12 (WVU) and the ACC (Pitt and Syracuse). Once the Mountaineers and Panthers leave the conference, the Big East will no longer have any tradition or history of great football. It will be a conference made up of second and third class teams.I obviously think they should lose their automatic bid already, and I don't think I really need to spend too much time explaining my argument because most people, including the media, agree with me. If you disagree, then please let me know why in the comments below.Should the Big East lose its automatic bid to a BCS Bowl Game?
The Clemson Tigers will face the Virginia Tech Hokies in Charlotte, NC on Sat, Dec 3 at 8:00 PM ET in the 2011 ACC Championship Game for a spot in a BCS Bowl Game. These two teams met in week five when Clemson dominated the Hokies in their house 23-3. At that time, the Tigers were on fire. They beat the Auburn Tigers, the FSU Seminoles, and then the Hokies in a row. Since their first meeting, the Hokies have been dominating their competition and enter the ACC Championship with a seven game winning streak. The Tigers, on the other hand, have struggled, losing three of their last four games. Generally speaking, Clemson has the better offense and VA Tech has the better defense. I expect a better game this time around. The Tigers have lost whatever spark was carrying them earlier in the season, and the Hokies seemed to have found it. I think the Hokies will not only win this game, but they will completely turn the tide on the Tigers and dominate them. What do you think?Clemson vs Virginia Tech Who will win the ACC Championship Game?

No Michigan mascot rival for Brutus, yet Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon said yesterday that the university has discussed the possibility of a mascot for the Wolverines, but that it's "not an active project." There was a bit of a stir when Brandon was quoted in the online magazine Michigan Today saying the university is "interested in doing a mascot but it has to be something that fans love." Brandon said a mascot is something Michigan has discussed because the school wants to connect with younger fans. However, he said there's "no timetable" and no current project to come up with one. All true football fans know the game is decided in the trenches. The Steelers Defensive Line dominated in their game holding the Jets to only 70 yards rushing, creating an opportunity for a defensive touchdown after sacking Mark Sanchez and causing a fumble, and a goal line stand creating a turn over on downs. The Packers Offensive Line looked sharp against the Bears. It is going to be key to the outcome of this game for them to give Quarterback Aaron Rodgers time to throw the football.Super Bowl XLV, Packers O-Line vs Steelers D-Line: Who Wins the Trenches?

The 2011 Iron Bowl will feature a battle of the Southeastern Conference's two leading rushers, Trent Richardson for the Alabama Crimson Tide and Michael (Mike) Dyer for the Auburn Tigers. Richardson is a junior and has rushed for 1380 yards and 20 touchdowns. Dyer, on the other hand, is a sophomore and has rushed for 1194 and 10 touchdowns.Richardson and Dyer were both five star recruits coming out of high school, and neither has disappointed in their NCAA career. This will be the first time the two face each other as the starters for their teams. The outcome of this game will depend on which team is successful in their rushing attack. Bama is playing for a spot in the BCS National Championship game, and Dyer would love nothing more than to help his Tigers prevent their most hated rival from reaching that game.Auburn can also influence Richardson's chances for the Heisman Trophy Award. The race is currently wide open, and the next couple of weeks will decide who will have the chance to be the next to carry the award. If the Tigers can shut Trent down, then he will most likely not win the Heisman Trophy. I think Auburn will do all it can to stop Richardson. In the past two years, the Tigers were capable of shutting down Alabama's former Heisman Trophy winner, Mark Ingram. I think the Tigers will have success in stopping Richardson, and because of that I think Dyer will have the better game. But what do you think?Trent Richardson vs Michael Dyer: Who will have a better Iron Bowl?Related Polls:Auburn vs Alabama: Can the Tigers upset the Tide in the Iron Bowl?a
