In virtually every Republican primary debate, all of the candidates (except Ron Paul) have made clear Islamophobic and anti-Arab statements. The video provided has an example of one of the Republican Primary Debates. Why do the primary candidates use such hateful and ignorant language when discussing Arabs and Muslims?

Does using racial slurs towards Arabs and Muslims help Republicans gain conservative voters?

Hasan Abu Nimah wrote an article titled Why is it Open Season on Palestinians in US Presidential Race? for the Electronic Intifada recently. Nimah says "it seems that the Palestinians, or more precisely bashing and demonizing them, preoccupy a disproportionate amount of the candidates’ attention. Even more extraordinary is the fact that the Palestinians never sought to make Americans or the US their enemy nor did they do anything to harm the US."

In many of the Republican Primary Debates, it appears as though the candidates are fighting over who can say the most racist and hateful things towards the Palestinians. Here are a following of the things each candidate has said:
  • Newt Gingrich said the Palestinians are an "invented people."
  • Mitt Romney claims they are taught terrorism and to hate Jews in their schools.
  • Rich Santorum said "All the people who live in the West Bank are Israelis. There are no Palestinians. This is Israeli land"
  • Michele Bachman believes Palestine should die so Israel can live.
  • Rick Perry attempted to have all persons aboard the Palestinian Freedom Flotilla's arrested for terrorism.
Ron Paul is the only candidate that hasn't said any racist and hateful comments towards Palestinians. Those are just examples of a few of the candidates comments. Look up some more and then decide, Which Republican Presidential Candidate hates the Palestinians more?

On ESPN's First Take, Jemelle Hill explains how black Americans have reacted differently from white Americans to Lebron's move and the black community is getting behind him after seeing images of only white fans burn his jerseys and attack him so thoroughly. Does race play a role in fan rxn here?

Former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr will be at Michigan International Speedway Sunday to serve as the grand marshal for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 Sprint Cup race.

Beyond standing above the track and giving the "start your engines" command, Carr's appearance at MIS will allow him to promote Wolverines for Life, which encourages the donation of blood, organ and tissues.

The Sprint Cup race begins at 1 p.m. (TNT)

Every season some fans of the show ask the question....How come the Bachelor is always white? .  The fact is the show has had very few contestants that are non-caucasian and there has never been a non-caucasian Bachelor.  Why not have different ethnicity, an African American Bachelor or Arab American Bachelor etc.  There are plenty of good catches from every race.  One of the special things about the U.S. is that it's a melting pot. I think a bachelor of another race is past due and would add more dimension to the show.  Do you agree, do you think a non-caucasian should be the next Bachelor?

On the 19th season of The Amazing Race we have two Olympic snowboarders, two winners of “Survivor”, A father and son team who have sailed around the world, a older farming couple, two Las Vegas showgirls and more.  All are eager to make it through the 12 tasks first in order to win “The Amazing Race.”  On tonight’s show the main task was to memorize a pay phone Confucius proverb and recite it to a monk (not allowed to write it down).  It was amazing how this tasks stumped everyone except Cathy from the team of Bill and Cathy Alden, farmers from Albany Oregon.  Cathy recited it perfectly on the first try - she was amazing!

The biggest potential road block came when Kaylani Paliotta dropped her passport at a gas station while asking directions to LAX.  But Twitter saved the day.  Ryan Storms (not a contestant) had been at the station at the same time and found her passport after she left.  He described it on Twitter and wrote,”Looks like I have to look her up on Facebook.”  His message was picked up by a fan who was monitoring all Twitter mentions of “The Amazing Race.”  The fan replied and told him to get the passport to LAX.  Ryan saved the day and camera crews shot a clip of him surprising Kaylani with her passport.

Some really far out things happen on Amazing Race to cause upsets and saves for contestants.   I think this one is for the books.  Are you surprised twitter saved the day on Amazing Race?

The drought is over.

Marco Andretti picked up his first Izod IndyCar Series win in almost five years Saturday night, edging former Andretti Autosport teammate Tony Kanaan to get only his second series victory -- and this one came 78 races after the first one.

The Nazareth native, whose best previous finish this season was a fourth, worked hard with his pit crew to maintain track position, and when it counted, he won a wheel-to-wheel battle with Kanaan to take the lead 30 laps from the end of the Iowa Corn Indy 250.

"Some good racing with T.K., it was good fun, but the Venom boys were on tonight," Andretti said in Victory Lane. "I made it difficult on him. No mercy at this point; I needed it."

Kanaan came into Victory Lane to congratulate Andretti and told him, "If it wasn't for the win, we we're gonna talk about it."

Kanaan crashed three years in a row at Iowa before winning in 2010.

"It was a great battle, a fun race," Kanaan said. "It was crazy at the end. I loved it,"

Points leader Dario Franchitti was leading much of the race before fading following a restart 51 laps from the end. The Scot finished fifth, though he grabbed sole possession of the points lead from Will Power.

Scott Dixon started 23rd and finished third, followed by JR Hildebrand.

Power, the co-points leader entering the race, hit the wall just 90 laps in. He suffered a minor concussion and will have to be cleared by doctors to race in Toronto in two weeks.

This was the first IndyCar night race in five events at Iowa. The switch produced the most exciting race yet at Rusty Wallace's speedy little oval.

Franchitti jumped in front eight laps in and held a comfortable margin over a handful of challengers for the first 150 laps. Andretti completed his long journey from 17th to pass Franchitti, but it didn't last as the Scot went high and back ahead a few laps later.

Franchitti won two of the last three races at Iowa, but he didn't have enough late to challenge Andretti or Kanaan.

Takuma Sato became the first Japanese driver to win an IndyCar pole, then nearly became the first one to lose it when he collided with Alex Tagliani in a late practice run long after qualifying.

Sato's KV Racing Technology-Lotus team was able to put his primary No. 5 car back together in time for the race, and Sato hung close to the leaders for much of the race.

But Sato, like many drivers before him, lost control through an increasingly bumpy second turn and drilled the wall.

Danica Patrick opened the race second, her best starting position since Nashville in 2008.

She was hardly much of a factor once the green flag dropped.

Patrick quickly fell back as Franchitti maneuvered to the front, and she slipped back into ninth after James Jakes hit the wall for the night's first caution flag.

Patrick finished 10th.

Power's problem's began shortly thereafter, as he ran into Charlie Kimball as he was leaving pit row and Kimball was coming in. Kimball sustained heavy damage to the side of his No. 83 car, while Power stayed on the lead lap — though way back on that lap.

Power's night would only get worse. The rear end of his No. 12 Team Penske car flew open and smacked into the wall, ending a tumultuous night in painfully fitting fashion.

Power left Iowa in second place, 20 points behind Franchitti. But five of the next six IndyCar races are on road/street courses, and Power's proven to be the best on those since the start of last year.

But he'll have to pass medical evaluations by the IndyCar medical staff first.

The victory was a perfect belated father's day gift for Marco's dad and team owner, Michael Andretti. "I didn't get him a card, so I guess this will have to do," Marco said.

Former Morning Call sports editor Paul Reinhard and Associated Press writer Luke Meredith contributed to this story.

Out of the eleven teams racing the world on The Amazing Race, Cathi and Bill Alden , the over 50 couple, started out as my number 1 pick for coming in dead last.  In fact, they only avoided elimination on the first episode because it was a non- elimination round.  So tonight I was sure they would be one of two teams to be eliminated.  Instead they shot from behind all the way to first place for most of the second leg of the race.  In the end, they wound up standing in front of Phil Keoghan in 7th place.  Not bad for the team the snowboarders nicknamed “Ma and Pa.”  They impressed the other teams with their positive energy which will probably get them a ways around the world.  In contrast, the most negative energy is coming from Justin and Jennifer Young the brother and sister team.  They are fighting all the time and that will surely get in the way of winning the million.

I was shocked that the two “Survivor” winners, Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca, were sent home after making two fatal mistakes.  Early on they seemed very confident in their abilities.  It just goes to show you it’s really hard to tell who will come out ahead.  Cindy Chiang and Ernie Halvorsen said there are so many twists in this race they can’t image what’s next.  In addition to twists are many variables and chances to make stupid mistakes, especially when teams get worn out from racing.  A great example of this was when over half the teams didn’t read the sign on the orphanage’s table and missed the instructions to give all their money to the orphans.  It happened at the very end of the leg and they were worn out.  Phil asked them all to retrace their steps and correct their mistake before checking in for the day.

In my opinion, there is only one really super team in this season’s race.  That’s Cindy and Ernie and mostly because of Cindy’s success oriented attitude.  She is competitive and Ernie doesn’t get in her way.  He let’s her lead and it is working for them.

Which team is the frontrunner on Amazing Race?
