Michael Dyer was the #1 high school running back according to ESPNU in the class of 2010, and Marcus Lattimore was rated the #2. The Auburn family has some angst towards Lattimore following his decision to throw an AU hat on the ground and place the USCe hat on his head at his commitment ceremony. This weekend, the two go head to head. Who will have the better game, Michael Dyer or Marcus Latter. Statistics: Michael Dyer: 39 rushing attempts; 212 yards rushing; 5.4 yard average per carry; 23 yd long; 1 Touchdown; 1 reception for 9 yards. Marcus Lattimore: 70 rushing attempts; 333 yards rushing; 4.8 yard average per carry; 28 yd long; 5 Touchdowns; 3 receptions for 37 yards
The 2011 Iron Bowl will feature a battle of the Southeastern Conference's two leading rushers, Trent Richardson for the Alabama Crimson Tide and Michael (Mike) Dyer for the Auburn Tigers. Richardson is a junior and has rushed for 1380 yards and 20 touchdowns. Dyer, on the other hand, is a sophomore and has rushed for 1194 and 10 touchdowns.Richardson and Dyer were both five star recruits coming out of high school, and neither has disappointed in their NCAA career. This will be the first time the two face each other as the starters for their teams. The outcome of this game will depend on which team is successful in their rushing attack. Bama is playing for a spot in the BCS National Championship game, and Dyer would love nothing more than to help his Tigers prevent their most hated rival from reaching that game.Auburn can also influence Richardson's chances for the Heisman Trophy Award. The race is currently wide open, and the next couple of weeks will decide who will have the chance to be the next to carry the award. If the Tigers can shut Trent down, then he will most likely not win the Heisman Trophy. I think Auburn will do all it can to stop Richardson. In the past two years, the Tigers were capable of shutting down Alabama's former Heisman Trophy winner, Mark Ingram. I think the Tigers will have success in stopping Richardson, and because of that I think Dyer will have the better game. But what do you think?Trent Richardson vs Michael Dyer: Who will have a better Iron Bowl?Related Polls:Auburn vs Alabama: Can the Tigers upset the Tide in the Iron Bowl?a
Mike Dyer was ESPN's #1 ranked running back coming out of high school. Dyer, from Little Rock Christian Academy in Arkansas, played his first college football game for the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, September 4. He carried the ball 14 times, gained 95 yards averaging 6.8 a carry, and scored 1 touchdown. The Auburn Tigers were playing Arkansas State, clearly a team beneath them. So was a 6.8 avg that impressive and a statment of deserving that #1 high school back status? In other words, did he live up to expectations?
Update - Game SummaryFinal Score - 16 Auburn Tigers 13 South Carolina Gamecocks - The game between the Tigers and the Gamecocks turned was a defensive showdown with both defenses creating several turnovers. Both quarterbacks played horrible. Stephen Garcia Statistics vs Auburn - completed only 9 passes out of 23 attempts (39.1 CMP%) for 160 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. He was also sacked three times. Garcia's quarterback rating was a 94.5 on the day.Barrett Trotter Statistics vs USC - completed only 12 passes in 23 attempts (52.2 CMP%) for 112 yards, 1 touchdown and two interceptions. He was also sacked four times. Trotter's quarterback rating was a 90.0 on the day.Trotter gets the nod as having performed better because when it mattered most, he stood tall in the pocket and hit Phillip Lutzenkirchen for a touchdown with less than two minutes left in the game before getting rocked by South Carolina's defensive line. Dyer racked up 100 yards on 23 carries versus Lattimore's 33 yards on 14 carries in the first game, but Lattimore out-gained Dyer with 84 yards off 16 carries to 64 yards off 14 carries in the second, respectively. In the 2010 recruiting rankings, Lattimore and Dyer were ranked either the top back or the second back in the nation, depending on the service providing the rankings. The two nearly attended Auburn University together, but Lattimore had a change of heart in the final week of recruiting and chose the Gamecocks.Marcus Lattimore 2011 Season Statistics - 107 rushing attempts; 611 yards rushing; 5.7 yard average per carry; 36 yard long; 8 touchdowns Marcus Lattimore 2010 Season Statistics - 249 rushing attempts; 1197 yards rushing; 4.8 yard average per carry; 58 yard long; 17 touchdowns Michael Dyer 2011 Season Statistics - 62 rushing attempts; 426 yards rushing; 6.9 yard average per carry; 52 yard long; 6 touchdownsMichael Dyer 2010 Season Statistics - 182 rushing attempts; 1093 yards rushing; 6.0 yard average per carry; 38 yard long; 5 touchdownsAs bad as I would like to see Dyer have the better game, Auburn's rushing defense has been pathetic this season. It is ranked 112th and gives up an average of 227 yards per game. The Tigers have given up over 200 yards in three of four games, including over 300 to Mississippi State, and they have yet to face a running back as talented as Lattimore, currently second in the nation. The good news for the Tigers, however, is South Carolina has faced a much weaker schedule and is ranked 60th in rushing defense and gives up 137.37 yards per game. As for Dyer, Georgia's true freshman running back, Isaiah Crowell, was able to carve the Gamecocks defense for 118 yards on 16 carries. The Tigers plan is to make quarterback Stephen Garcia beat them. South Carolina's passing game has been terrible, even with wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. Thus, Auburn will stack the box to stop the run, and try to force the Gamecocks to have to throw the ball to win the game. Unlike the Gamecocks, Auburn's offense is more balanced. If the Gamecocks attempt to load the box and stop Dyer, Barrett Trotter is capable of burning them deep. Auburn receiver Emory Blake is an emerging star having scored a touchdown in eight straight Tigers games. So far this season he has 137 receiving yards on 16 receptions (19.8 yard average per reception) for four touchdowns and a long of 53 yards.USC will have to account for him at all times. Another advantage Auburn will have is in the kick-off return game. True freshman running back, Tre Mason, has been a stud this year with 411 yards on 14 kick-off returns for a long of 97 yards and one touchdown. His reputation as a threat of housing a kick every time he gets a chance led FAU to squib kick all game. Lets hope South Carolina chooses to kick to him!Anyways, this is the third time Dyer and Lattimore will face off. The personal battle is one to one, but Auburn has won both match-ups! What will happen in Round 3? Will Dyer out-perform Lattimore in a Tigers victory, or will Lattimore have a better day in the first win for the Gamecocks over Auburn since 1933?

In the final weekend of the regular 2011 college football season, the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide will travel to Auburn, AL to play the #24 Auburn Tigers in the 76th Iron Bowl. Currently, Alabama leads the series 40-34-1. In the last two years, Alabama and Auburn have both had Heisman Trophy winners and both won the BCS National Championship. Mark Ingram won the Heisman in 2009, leading the Tide in winning the BCS National Championship Game. Cam Newton won Auburn's third Heisman Trophy in 2010, as he led the Tigers to a BCS National Championship. This year, Alabama is in position to play for another BCS Championship, and the Tide's running back, Trent Richardson, is up for the Heisman Trophy. Richardson will need to have a huge game in the Iron Bowl in order to help lock the Heisman Trophy Award. Auburn would love nothing more than to shut him down.Alabama is the better team, but the game is being played in Jordan Hare Stadium. Personally, I think Auburn can pull the upset because Alabama's offense is terrible. If the Tigers are able to block and create lanes for running back Michael Dyer and create turnovers, then they have a shot. What do you think?Auburn vs Alabama: Can the Tigers upset the Tide in the Iron Bowl?
Almost all the major publications covering college football, online and in print, have chosen the Alabama Crimson Tide's Trent Richardson as being a better running back than the Auburn Tigers' Michael Dyer in their 2011 preseason predictions:Rivals.com SEC Preview: Will the Title Streak be Deep Sixed? - In its Preseason All-Conference Team, Richardson is chosen as one of two RB's on the 1st Team Offense and Dyer is left off both the 1st and 2nd Team Offense. Two out of the five SEC experts choose Richardson to lead the SEC in rushing, and nobody chose Dyer. Scout.com 2011 Preview: All-SEC Team & Top Players - Richardson is chosen for the 1st Team All-SEC Offense and Dyer is chosen for the 2nd Team All-SEC Offense. Dyer did not make the All America Offensive Team and is on Athlon's 2nd Team All-SEC Offense, the 32nd best RB in the nation, and the 77th overall player in the nation. Lindy's Sports Southeastern 2011 Preview - Richardson is considered the 3rd best RB in the nation and is on the 1st Team ALL-SEC Offense. Dyer is listed as the 5th best RB in the nation and is on the 2nd Team ALL-SEC Offense.Sports Illustrated Presents 2011 SEC Preview - This is the only publication by a major media outlet which places Dyer above Richardson that I have seen. Dyer is on the 1st Team All-SEC Offense and Richardson is on the 2nd Team.Richardson is a stud and has been his entire football career. Coming out of high school in 2009, he was ranked the #1 RB and #6 overall recruit by ESPN. He has a unique combination of toughness, speed, agility, cut-back ability, and vision. It is rare, if ever, the first guy that makes contact with him will bring him down. Edward Aschoff from ESPN.com correctly describes Richardson as "built like a tank, but runs with Finesse and grace. When he's not cutting past defenders, or throwing them to the ground, his movements and speed mimic a track star, giving him the ability to outrun you and run through you."But so is Dyer, who was ranked the #1 RB and #5 overall recruit in 2010 by ESPN. As a true freshman, Dyer broke Bo Jackson's freshman rushing yards record and was named the Offensive MVP of the BCS National Championship Game leading the Tigers in their victory over the Oregon Ducks. Aschoff says Dyer "stands just 5-foot-9, but he unloads every bit of his 207 pounds on defenders. And he's quite the athlete as well. He can be very dynamic in the open field, and everyone remembers his acrobatic play in the national championship when he rolled over an Oregon defender to extend his run late and help seal the game for the Tigers." Chris Low from ESPN describes Dyer as "a human bowling ball with his low-to-the-ground style." Without a doubt, Richardson is one of the nation's top running backs and will most likely have a great junior season in 2011-12. He will most likely be a high 1st Round Draft pick and be a great NFL running back. However, I can't figure out why nearly every preseason preview has him rated as a better running back than Dyer. Lets first compare their production since being in the SEC and in college:Michael (Mike) Dyer Total Career Statistics2010-11 Statistics as a True Freshman - 182 rushing attempts gaining 1,093 yards and 5 TD's for an average of 6.0 yards per carry and a long of 38 yards; 1 reception gaining 9.0 yards and 0 TD's for an average of 9.0 yards per catch and a long of 9.0 yards.Trent Richardson Total Career Statistics2009-10 Statistics as a True Freshman - 145 rushing attempts gaining 751 yards and 8 TD's for an average of 5.2 yards per carry and a long of 52 yards; 16 receptions gaining 126 yards and 0 TD's for an average of 7.9 yards per catch and a long of 17 yards.2010-11 Statistics as a Sophomore - 112 rushing attempts gaining 700 yards and 6 TD's for an average of 6.3 yards per carry and a long of 65 yards; 23 receptions gaining 266 yards and 4 TD's for an average of 11.6 yards per catch and a long of 85 yards.Total Career Statistics - 257 rushing attempts gaining 1,451 yards and 14 TD's for an average of 5.6 yards per carry and a long of 65 yards; 39 receptions gaining 392 yards and 4 TD's for an average of 10.1 yards per catch and a long of 85 yards. Both Richardson and Dyer have been forced to share carries with others in their careers, and neither of the two has led their team in total rushing yards or total carries in a season. Richardson shared carries and was listed on Alabama's depth chart behind the 2009 Heisman Trophy Award winner Mark Ingram in both of his seasons. Dyer, on the other hand, was largely overshadowed by the 2010 Heisman Trophy Award winner Cam Newton last year. In the beginning of Dyer's freshman season, he was listed behind RB Mario Fannin on the depth chart and throughout the season he shared carries with both Fannin and RB Onterio McCalebb. So neither player has been "the man," so to speak, going into a season since attending their respective universities. However, Dyer did become "the man" by the end of last year and, at least in my opinion, has put up more impressive numbers. In Dyer's only season at Auburn, he has had more rushing attempts and more rushing yards than Richardson did in either of his two season's. Dyer has also gained more yards per rushing attempt than Richardson has in his career. Richardson, however, has had more TD's and longer runs in both seasons with Alabama, and he has been a better overall receiver out of the backfield for the Tide than Dyer has been for the Tigers. Furthermore, Dyer was also named the MVP of the BCS National Championship Game and broke Bo Jackson's single season rushing record for a freshman at Auburn, personal accomplishments Richardson cannot claim. In fact, Richardson has not reached any milestone's while attending the University of Alabama. Really, all he has is several very impressive runs.If writers objectively analyzed and compared both running backs, Dyer should be rated as the better running back in the state of Alabama at least as many times as Richardson, if not in the vast majority of publications. The predictions seem to be made arbitrarily. Why have college football writers and analysts rated Richardson as the better running back? It doesn't make sense that it is so widespread that people are so sure he will be better. If asked which running back will have the better 2011-12 season, I would say Dyer but I really believe it is a coin flip. Without Newton and Fannin and after having an entire season behind his belt, Dyer should be projected as having a monstrous season. His performance in the BCS National Championship Game vs the Ducks also shows he has the ability to shine on the biggest stage in all of college football. Any team in the nation would love to have either running back in their backfield. They are both electrifying and tough runners between the tackles. BUT, if based on an objective analysis, I think one would have to put Dyer ahead of Richardson because of prior production and his known response to extremely high pressure filled circumstances. Rating Richardson ahead of Dyer seems more out of hope that he is able to carry the workload of an every down running back because in two years with the Tide, he has only had 20+ carries once and gained 100 yards rushing only three times. In contrast, Dyer has 20+ carries in three games and gained 100 yards rushing in four games in his only season with the Tigers.2011 Statistics Compared for Michael Dyer and Trent RichardsonMichael Dyer 2011 Season StatisticsTotal Stats - 103 rushing attempts; 567 yards; 5.5 yard average per carry; 52 yard long; 7 touchdownsDyer vs Utah State - 14 rushing attempts; 57 yards; 4.1 yard average per carry; 12 yard long; 2 touchdownsDyer vs Mississippi State - 18 rushing attempts; 150 yards; 8.3 yard average per carry; 52 yard long; 2 touchdownsDyer vs Clemson - 16 rushing attempts; 151 yards; 9.4 yard average per carry; 52 yard long; 2 touchdownsDyer vs FAU - 14 rushing attempts; 68 yards; 4.9 yard average per carry; 20 yard long; 0 touchdownsDyer vs South Carolina - 41 rushing attempts; 141 yards; 3.4 yard average; 18 yard long; 1 touchdownTrent Richardson 2011 Season StatisticsTotal Stats: 96 rushing attempts; 622 yards; 6.5 yard average per carry; 72 yard long; 10 touchdownsRichardson vs Kent State: 13 rushing attempts; 37 yards; 2.8 yard average per carry; 10 yard long; 3 touchdownsRichardson vs Penn State: 26 rushing attempts; 111 yards; 4.3 yard average per carry; 22 yard long; 2 touchdownsRichardson vs North Texas: 11 rushing attempts; 167 yards; 15.2 yard average per carry; 71 yard long; 3 touchdownsRichardson vs Arkansas: 17 rushing attempts; 126 yards; 7.4 yard average per carry; 31 yard long; 0 touchdownsRichardson vs Florida: 29 rushing attempts; 181 yards; 6.2 yard average per carry; 36 yard long; 2 touchdowns

Bachelor Pad 2 has just concluded, and Michael Stagliano and Holly Durst were crowned the winners and awarded the $250,000 prize to split. The finale started with the four remaining couples, Kirk Dewindt and Ella Nolan, Kasey Kahl and Vienna Girardi, Graham Bunn and Michelle Money, and Michael and Holly competing and performing in the Las Vegas Cirque de Soleil show "Ka." Past Bachelorettes, Ali Fedotowsky and Trista Sutter, and Bachelor, Jason Mesnick, were the judges. In the end, Michael and Holly had the best performance and won the competition. Kirk and Ella had the worst performance and were sent home. Because Michael and Holly won, they got to choose which couple to take to the finale and they decided to take Michelle and Graham. The evicted Bachelor Pad cast members returned for the finale and became the jury and voted on who they believed deserved to win the prize. In the end, Michael and Holly had the most votes and won BP 2. I believe the right couple won, even though Holly did not contribute much to the team. Michael won multiple competitions. Holly just sat back and let Michael do everything. But I guess you could argue that Holly played a good game because she knew that flirting with one of the best competitors (Michael) and flirting with one of the jury members (Blake) would get her where she needed to be in the end. So what do you think? Did the right couple win Bachelor Pad 2?
Tonight's episode of the Bachelor Pad focused on Holly Durst's love triangle. She has a decision to make and to me it should be easy. There are two guys going after her, Blake Julian and Michael Stagliano. Both men are good looking, but to me one has a much better heart. Michael has the history with Holly as her former fiance. He has reestablished his love and is willing to give up everything for her. Blake might be new and exciting but to me the guy has nothing more to offer than his perfect teeth. We have watched Blake manipulate Melissa Schreiber to get further along in the game. I know, I know she's crazy but he was an ass to her.The love triangle started brewing during the first episode when Blake commented on Holly's great legs. Since that point they having been flirting, but Holly explains that she flirts with all the guys. She and Michael have been working on mending some broken fences, but Michael is the one that has been pushing to reestablish a future with Holly. In tonight's episode, Blake won the best guy kisser contests and was awarded a rose and a date. Much to Melissa's hysterical objections Blake chose Holly to go on the date with him. Michael hoped that after the date Holly would somehow come back to him. Not a chance... Holly told the cameras "There is a part of me that feels guilty about kissing Blake. But it was the best date - I had so much fun. Now I don't know what to do about Michael.... If Michael finds out how much fun I had on this date it will break his heart.... The sad thing about this date is I haven't thought about Michael at all." It looks like Holly has already chosen, but who would you choose Blake or Michael?
Michael Jackson took great measures such as making his children wear masks to protect them from the public. Would Michael Jackson want his children interviewed on Oprah?
People magazine broke the news yesterday that Holly Durst and Blake Julian from the Bachelor franchise are engaged. The two met while filming the current season of Bachelor Pad 2. The problem is that Holly Durst just ended her engagement to fellow cast mate Michael Stagliano at the beginning of this year. Apparently Michael and Holly were engaged and she broke off their engagement last November, then they got back together but shortly afterwards Michael ended the relationship. They both went on to star in the second season of Bachelor Pad, along with Blake Julian. Over the summer we witnessed Michael deciding he was still in love with Holly but we also witnessed Holly flirting with Blake. One of my many issues with this season of BP was watching Holly pretend she was all broken up about Michael and she was not sure what guy she wanted, Michael or Blake. For me the choice was obvious, Michael. The whole season Blake was a total douche. He lead Melissa Schreiber on (yes, I realize Melissa is crazy but you just don't treat any girl like that) while moving in on Holly. But what pisses me off the most is that Blake proposes to Holly a few days before the last episode was filmed and Holly says yes and does not tell Michael. So Michael finds out that his ex-fiance of less than a year is engaged to another guy on national television. What a bitch move by Holly. Holly's reasoning for not telling Michael is that she could not get a hold of him. Really? What a bunch of s**t! Let's say we believe she could not get a hold of Michael beforehand, Blake did not have to propose and/or Holly did not have to announce the engagement on national television. Obviously Blake and Holly are selfish fame whores. That's my opinion on the situation, what is yours? Was Holly Durst's engagement announcement a total bitch move?
