Steve Sarkisian's University of Washington Huskies football program is about to take off. Although the Huskies record has only been 5-7 in 2009 and then 7-6 in 2010, Sarkisian has been putting in place a successful program for years to come. According to Rivals.com, the Washington Huskies had the 28th-best recruiting class in the country in 2010, Sarkisian's first year as a head coach, and this past offseason the 23rd-best recruits in the nation. With the continued success of recruiting, the Huskies will eventually start to compete for a national championship. However, winning your conference does not guarantee you an opportunity to play for the national title. Playing tough non-conference games and winning them is required if you expect to be considered one of the best two schools in the country and then be selected to play in the BCS National Championship Game. There are two bowl games that are just horrible for different reasons. The bowls are supposed to be the grand finale to a season, however, for many teams this is not the case. While there are several games that are just boring, there are two that stood out to me.Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl December 30, 2010The first horrible game is the Washington Huskies vs Nebraska Cornhuskers. The teams have already played this year!!! Who wants to see this game again. The first game was a complete blowout and bore to watch. Nebraska went to Washington and destroyed Jake Locker and his Huskies. Locker completed only 4 of 20 passes and had 2 interception, one of which was returned for a TD. The final score was 51-21. Nebraska had 533 Total Yards, including 383 Rushing Yards. Washington had a total of only 246 yards. They were thoroughly dominated. Nebraska has 10 wins this year and deserved to play a game that they want to play and fans want to watch. This isn't the case in this boring game. On the flipside, the Huskies have finally become bowl eligible and they are so over-matched in their game there is little to no hope they can win. The only way is if the Cornhuskers show up flat because they don't want to be there.MAACO Bowl December 22, 2010The other horrible game is the Boise State Broncos vs Utah Utes. Boise got screwed. There is no other way to say it. All season they were ranked in the top 3 or 4 and were hoping to slip into the National Championship game. Then their FG kicker misses two kicks and they get thrown into a December 22nd Bowl Game with only one loss? That's completely absurd. While I'm not a fan of putting Boise in the BCS Title because of the weakness of their schedule, I am also not a fan of this complete slap to the face the Broncos were given for a damn good season. They should be playing someone that has the cache to actually mean something for the program, and Utah isn't going to do it.So Which Bowl is the Worst?

Tonight's Monday night football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins is being billed as McNabb vs. Vick. I really dont care about that but I do have an opinion on who I think will win!Who do you think is going to win this game outright? Do you think its going to be Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles or do you think that Donovan McNabb and the Washington Redskins have what it takes to hold them off?
The Auburn Tigers offensive coordinator, Gus Malzahn, left the team in December to become the head coach at Arkansas State. Malzahn's offense is widely considered as a variation of a Hurry Uptempo Spread Offense (HUSO), lining up the quarterback in the Shotgun instead of under center and spreading out the defense with three wide receivers. He has had major success as the OC for the Tigers, including helping win a BCS National Title in 2011 over the Oregon Ducks and shattering many offensive school records. A debate has picked up among Auburn fans on message boards across the web, however, concerning whether the Tigers should switch to a more pro-style offense. There has also been debate about which type of pro-style offense Auburn should run...West Coast offense, I-formation offense, or a Multiple Set offense. The West Coast offense has the quarterback mostly under center and is characterized by using short, horizontal passing routes instead of running the ball to "stretch out" a defense in order to open the potential for long runs or long passes. Auburn ran this type of offense under Offensive Coordinator Al Borges during its undefeated 2004 season. The I-formation offense consists of the quarterback under center with a fullback and halfback lined up directly behind him. It is characterized as a run first and run heavy offense that utilizes play-action to freeze linebackers to open up the vertical passing game. Auburn has ran the I-formation several times in its history and has been very successful when doing so.The Multiple Set offense consists of a playbook borrowing from all the different offensive styles. It utilizes a mixture of the Spread, West Coast, I-form, Single Back, and Pistol formations in its attack of a defense. It is the most complicated of the offenses and has the potential to consist of the largest playbook. In today's NFL, it is the offense that is run by most teams making it the true pro-style offense of the modern game.Personally, I would love for us to go to a multiple set offense. It is much more versatile and allows an offense the opportunity to line up in a formation best suited to defeat the opposing defense. Examples of teams running the Multiple Set offense includes the LSU Tigers and the Washington Huskies. But what do you think? Should Auburn ditch the Spread for a Pro-Style Offense? If so, which type?
In week 12 of the 2011 college football season, the #18 USC Trojans travel to Eugene, OR to play the #4 Oregon Ducks in Autzen Stadium. The Ducks are coming off their biggest win of the season over the #9 Stanford Cardinal. The difference in that game was Stanford was unable, once again, to keep up with Oregon's speed. This week, the Ducks face a depleted USC team currently battling through NCAA Probation and Sanctions. The Trojans may not have depth, but they are highly talented at most positions. A key distinction between Stanford and USC is the Trojans have deep threats at the wide receiver positions with Robert Woods and Marqise Lee, and the Cardinal didn't. Like the Cardinal, USC also has a prototype NFL quarterback in Matt Barkely. The Ducks will have to contain and stop the Trojans passing game if they want to win this game. Woods and Lee are as good as they get, and both are a threat to score touchdowns whether they catch short passes and have to make plays with their legs or catching the deep ball. The Trojans are 23rd in the nation in passing offense, 28th in total offense, and 4th in sacks allowed. Basically, they have a great offensive line and they like to and are good at throwing the football.USC's offense is great, however, this game will decided by whether the Trojans defense can handle the speed and play-making ability of Oregon's offense. In particular, for the Trojans to upset the Ducks at home, they will have to stop the Ducks run game. Statistically, the Trojans are great at stopping the run and are ranked 8th in the nation giving up only 100.40 yards on the ground per game. However, upon deeper scrutiny, the statistics are misleading. If you glance over USC's schedule, they have only faced one great running back in Chris Polk of the Washington Huskies. I expect the first half to be a good game with the Trojans keeping it close. However, in the second half, Oregon's Heisman Trophy Hopeful, LaMichael James, and crew will take over by wearing out the thin USC defense.Once the Trojans start getting tired, their defense won't be able to handle Oregon's speed. The Ducks are favored by 14.5 points for a reason. For USC to win this game, they have to contain Oregon's team speed on offense. I don't think the Trojans have a chance!USC vs Oregon: Can the Trojans handle the speed of the Ducks?
