although it is in fact an act of intolerance it is definitely not a hate crime. An extremist group of muslims are welcome to burn bibles in the US anytime they please as well

it is that kind of thinking that leads to the killings in islamic countrys, plus the quran means more than a religous book to the muslims, it represents gods own words to them, I am Secular but i Think other religions should be respected

Who speaks for Islam? Right now the loudest voices are coming from the Islamic terrorists. And their message is not of peace, or of brotherhood or of love, but of hate, murder and suffering...while those who call themselves "good muslims" do nothing but complain and gripe at the bad image Islam has.As long as these "good muslims" do little, it will be the Islamic terrorists who will be the voice of Islam. Protests like the planned Quran burning is an offshoot of this bad image of Islam. And it might not be the last.

Thats because the media isn't interested in us "good muslims" so our voice goes unheard. They know "muslim extremist" will get more of a reaction than someone who is promoting peace. Believe it or not, we're not all like that and I abhor the people who are responsible for 9/11 and attacks that are linked to it. Because of them, we're all tarred with the same brush. You can't walk down the street without someone calling you a terrorist. Thats what hurts deeply. If this guy wants to burn the qu'ran, let him, muslims have suffered much worse (crusades) the best thing is to turn a blind eye and not blow this out of proportion.

The destruction or defacing of any revealed book of knowledge is reprehensible. Just because one may have the right to do such a thing definitely does not make the action right. I find most people very tolerant, and loving, and empathic in nature. There are only a few who refuse to show basic humane kindness. Just as there are bad people who profess various leanings of a particular faith, whatever the profession of faith one claims. We too have this problem. Knowledge, studying, and research will most often eliminate ignorance, of any subject. But one need be humble enough to admit that an area of discussion, must be researched, that is, if this (topic)whatever it be, has some form of concern enough to study the topic. Burning of books, especially the Holy Qur’an is tantamount to denying one's own faith.

Neither. It is simply an act without accompanying reason. Have we not been endowed by our creator with a mind and a voice to dialog?

Um, this isn't even a matter of opinion, because "crime" refers to the legal status of something, as dictated by the laws. The US doesn't have hate speech laws, ergo, within the US, whatever you personally think of it, this is not a crime. (I believe that cannabis possession is a crime, because it is one. I do not believe that it is wrong or that it should be a crime.)

Every religion contain criminals and pessimistic issues but the basic of every religion can never change. It is not a game of hate where we suppose to burn our holy books. It is really shameful for the people who possess any such thinking. Islam is a piece of religion and muslims are being killed all over the world like Kashmir(Indian), Palestine, Iraq etc but how many cases are reported to burn any holy books by the muslims, I am sorry I didn't but people are doing a lot against The Holy Quran why? In fact, the world is showing their actual faces and thinking and God is watching over us. We all have to answer God one day for our sins. May God Help us to think positively and show us the right direction in order to create peace and harmony in this world.
