Jack White's "Divorce Party"- A Silly Stunt or A Great Way To Split?

A	A "divorce party" sounds like the right way to part ways!

B	It doesn't seem tactful to host a "divorce party".

Former White Stripes frontman Jack White and his beautiful wife, model/musician Karen Elson, are throwing a "positive swing bang hum dinger" of a party, as the invite reads, in Nashville tonight. Though it's almost exactly 6 years after their exotic destination wedding in Brazil, the couple aren't renewing their vows or having an anniversary party-- instead celebrating their, apparently quite amicable, divorce.

According to Rolling Stone, a statement from the couple assures it is, indeed, all good. "We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee," the pair said. "We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow."

It's definitely a mature way to handle a potentially hazardous situation. “Please help us celebrate together this anniversary of the making and breaking of the sacred union of marriage with our best friends and animals,” the invitation asked, but no mention of a divorce-gift registry was made. Are attendees who gave gifts at the wedding perhaps issued a refund, gift certificates to Macy's for all as party favors?

When the situation's right, should couples contemplate hosting one last hurrah together? When you've brought your loved ones together to connect and celebrate your love at your wedding, it does seem fair to offer the opposite opportunities to explain the issues in separating and say goodbyes in the event of a split. Or is this another weird Jack White moment that ought not be used as an example, making marriage seem frivolous and trivial?
