Wisconsin football is known for having a big offensive line able to pave the way for running backs to wear down the opposing defense. It looks like the Badgers added another mammoth player in the trenches Monday night, as Cleveland (Ohio) offensive tackle Kyle Dodson committed to the Badgers.

"The Wisconsin coaches were screaming when I called," Dodson told 247Sports.com. "I mean screaming. I don't know any of the current recruits, but if they ask I'll recruit them hard as heck."

While Dodson likely had to hold the phone away from his ear for a few seconds while the coaches digested his commitment, it's a very big verbal pledge for the program. He held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame and Michigan among others but in the end, Wisconsin beat out local school Ohio State to secure his services.

"It was hard turning down Ohio State," Dodson said. “I called coach (Bret) Bielema and told him I was committing. And I called (Ohio State assistant) coach (Taver) Johnson. I thanked him, but I told him I committed to Wisconsin. He was very surprised. He sounded pretty down, but he was classy about it. He said he would help me out if I needed it, but he was pretty saddened."

The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Dodson has gotten to know the Badgers well over the past few months. He visited unofficially in April for spring practice and had the school at or near the top of the list for some time. He is the fifth commitment for the Wisconsin class of 2012 and second offensive lineman, joining MaxPreps Top 100 guard Dan Voltz.
