Hawking once claimed to "not [be] religious in the normal sense" and argued "the universe is governed by the laws of science. The laws may have been decreed by God, but God does not intervene to break the laws."

He recently stated in 2010: "There is a fundamental difference between religion, which is based on authority, [and] science, which is based on observation and reason. Science will win because it works."

The legitimacy of his claims is not what this poll is about. This poll is about whether religion and science should be treated separately. They clearly are not the same thing. Religion is based on faith and promise, science is an attempt at explaining the mechanisms of the world through the means available to humans.

With this in mind, should religion and science be treated separately?

If something can not happen out of nothing, how did the God happen? This is confusing
