Health Care Costs = $882.0B
Medicare Costs = $494.3B
Medicaid Costs = 347.0B
Education Costs = $129.8B
Defense Costs = $964.8B
Cost of Welfare = $485.6B

The Chart that follows shows that Healthcare, Medicare + Medicaid, is the largest part of the budget at 17%. Not far behind is Defense Spending and Social Security Costs at 15%.
