Since Coach Meyer has arrived at UF, he has brought 2 championships and a Hesiman trophy, but his players have also been arrested on 30 occasions. Has the coach let the Florida Gator program run out of control?

In week three, the Tennessee Volunteers visit The Swamp in Gainesville, FL to challenge the Florida Gators. Both teams are currently undefeated, however, neither team has really been tested. Florida has played two far inferior opponents, and Tennessee played one inferior team and Cincinnati, who is not that good this year. We will learn a lot about both teams in this game, and whether either is a true contender for the SEC East Title and a chance to play in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, GA.

Stat Comparison of Both Teams
  • Rushing Offense - ranked 17; 248.50 rushing yards per game
  • Passing Offense - ranked 49; 241.50 passing yards per game

The Gators are favored by 9.5 points at home, and while I like the Gators to win this game; I doubt they will cover the spread. The Vols are going to have a lot of problems trying to contain Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps, two speedsters that can take it to the house at any moment. Tyler Bray and company will have a good game, but the crowd noise and the Gators defense will be able to do enough for the win.

UPDATE
In the first quarter and a half, it appeared as though the Florida Gators were going to run away with this game by jumping up to a 16-0 lead. However, the Gators were unable to put the Vols away. The Vols can be thankful for their defense holding the Gators to three field goals and only one touchdown inside the red zone. With only four minutes left in the second quarter, the Vols were able to drive the ball 89 yards for a quick touchdown to stay in the game and go into the half down only 16-7. They also get the ball to begin the third quarter.

UPDATE
To start the thrid quarter, Tyler Bray thew an interception. Florida capitalized on the turnover by driving 42 yards for the touchdown to take a 23-7 lead.

UPDATE
Florida forced Tennessee to punt the ball after 6 plays. On the second play from scrimmage, John Brantley dumped the ball off to Chris Rainey underneath. Rainey proceeded to take the ball 83 yards for a touchdown. The score is now 30-7 with eight minutes left in the third quarter.

UPDATE
After being forced three an out, the Vols caught a break. After Jeff Demps was stood up by several Vols defenders, one of them was able to strip the ball and recover the fumble for the Vols in Gators territory. Six plays later, Tyler Bray found Da'Rick Rogers for a 14 yard touchdown, however, they missed the two point conversion attempt. The score is now 30-13 with just under five minutes left in the third quarter.

UPDATE
After causing the Florida Offense to go three plays and out, the Vols caught yet another break. Florida's punter, kicking from his own nine yard line, only kicked the ball 21 yards giving the Vols the ball at the Gators 30 yard line. It seemed momentarily as though Florida's defense had saved the day for the Gators when it appeared Marcus Roberson picked off Bray, however, he was called for pass interference for pulling on the Vols wide receiver jersey and taking him to the ground.

UPDATE
The Vols were only able to get a field goal off the good field position. Score is 30-16, Gators, with around 13 minutes left to play in the fourth.

UPDATE
On the next Florida drive, they were able to eat a little over six minutes of the clock on a 50 yard drive, however, they were forced to settle for a field goal. Florida 33 Tennessee 23

UPDATE
In just over two minutes, the Vols were able to get another touchdown after Tyler Bray hit Mychal Rivera for ten yards. The drive totaled 60 yards, 8 plays and now the Vols have a chance down only ten...Florida 33 Tennessee 23 with 4 minutes and 30 seconds left in the game.

Since going 13-1 and winning the Sugar Bowl in 2009, the Florida Gators have fallen off the national radar in college football. In 2010, the Gators were 8-5 under Coach Urban Meyer. Coach Meyer retired in the off-season and Florida hired Will Muschamp to replace him.

After week 11 of the 2011 college football schedule, Coach Muschamp is 5-5. The Gators lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Georgia Bulldogs, the Auburn Tigers, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the LSU Tigers...all fellow Southeastern Conference opponents. The Gators didn't just lose, but looked anemic in many of those games and were dominated.

As fans, we come to expect the Gators to be on top of the college football world year in and year out. However, they are not right now, but will the Florida Gators be back next season in 2012?

After Coach Urban Meyer abruptly retired after the 2010 college football season, the Florida Gators hired coach Will Muschamp, the defensive coordinator for the Texas Longhorns, to replace him. Muschamp hired Charlie Weis to be the offensive coordinator and bring a pro-style offense to Florida. He hired Dan Quin to be the defensive coordinator.

For the first time in 25 years, the 2011 Florida Gators have a losing record in the Southeastern Conference. Florida lost four games in a row, and the Gators have lost nine straight against ranked teams. The Gators look like a mess right now and have only won five of ten games.

Was Will Muschamp the right hire for the Florida Gators?

Florida played Miami (Ohio) on opening weekend of the 2010 season, and their offense struggled throughout the game. In the first half, the Gators only had 13 total yards of offense. They had 13 QB-C exchanges go wrong, and their short running game for those tough yards was questionable at best. Their new QB, John Brantley, was 17 for 25 for 113 yards, 2 TD's, and an average of 6.6. He didn't look good, but wasn't completely terrible either. He is going to have to do a lot to get out of Tebow's shadow, and he didn't do it this game. They finished the game with 212 total yards, which was 260 yards less than they averaged last year. With all this in mind, should the Florida Gators be worried after their Week 1 struggles?

The Florida Gators and the Texas Longhorns are nothing like expected.

The Florida Gators were the pre-season #3 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll and #4 in the AP. After 9 weeks of football, the Gators are not ranked. The Gators lost 3 in a row for the first time since 1988. Their current record is 5-3. All 3 losses were in SEC games against LSU, Alabama, and Mississippi State.

The Texas Longhorns started the season #5 in the AP and #4 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll. Like the Gators, the Longhorns are no longer ranked. Texas is only .500 right now, 4-4. They were absolutely humiliated by the UCLA Bruins causing Coach Mack Brown to apologize to fans for their performance. That was their first of 4 losses. The others came against Oklahoma, Baylor, and Iowa State. Two of those are teams that Texas is not supposed to lose to ever.

Both the Gators and Longhorns have been let downs this year, but which is the bigger letdown?
