DeMarco Murray was the guest host for Friday's portion of the Adrian Peterson Football Camp in Norman.

Murray, who was drafted in the third round by the Dallas Cowboys in April, took some time out to speak with The Oklahoman.

What is your favorite part about working camps like this?

Just interacting with the kids and seeing the smile on their face. It just kind of lights you up inside.

What was your first thought when you got drafted by the Cowboys?

Unbelievable. I never thought in a million years I would go there. Just right up the road from here. I just feel blessed and it is a great opportunity for me.

You have played in Cowboy Stadium before, but what is it like knowing that is your home stadium?

It is going to be crazy. They have a great facility and the stadium speaks for itself. It is a blessing and every home game is going to be fun.

What are you hearing about the current lockout situation?

I really don't know, everything is mixed signals. I hear two weeks, I hear one month, I hear August. I pretty much hear the same thing everybody else does, just looking at it on ESPN.

What was your most memorable game at Oklahoma?

Definitely my freshman year, the Texas game. It was mine and Sam's first year playing in that game and we made a point to not lose it. I ended up coming out 2-2 in my career, but those games are always fun.

What was your most memorable play at Oklahoma?

When I broke the touchdown record last year here (at Owen Field) against Iowa State. It was a great moment for me and just an unbelievable feeling.

Who is your NFL comparison at the running back?

I'd like to think Ladainian Tomlinson. The way he is so elusive and can run inside and outside, catch the ball out of the backfield and pick up blocks. I definitely try to model my game after him.

Is there any NFL defense you are excited to go against?

None of them. There is not a particular defense I'm looking forward to. We don't play the Steelers or Ravens this year, so that is a plus.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is putting together another top 15 recruiting class, and his 2012 edition reached the double-digit commitment mark Wednesday night as the Sooners landed a verbal pledge from Texarkana (Texas) offensive lineman John Michael McGee.

“When I went up to Oklahoma for junior day in January, it felt like my home away from home," McGee told 247Sports.com. "My parents went with me way back when I visited and they both liked it too. Oklahoma has a nice campus, they win championships, have what I’m looking for academically and can help me accomplish my goals."

The 6-foot-4, 260-pounder also held scholarship offers from Notre Dame, USC, Oklahoma State and Clemson among others. The biggest reason he'll end up a Sooner, however, was the time and effort the coaching staff made in the recruiting process.

“They were the first to offer me and have been recruiting me the longest,” McGee said. “Coach (Josh) Heupel and Coach (James) Patton have come down to watch me as much as they can, including basketball games and have shown how much they want me.”

McGee is the 10th commitment for Oklahoma's upcoming class and the fourth from the state of Texas. McGee could play either guard or tackle in college but will likely end up on the inside next to fellow 2012 offensive line commit Ty Darlington.

ARDMORE — Athletic director Joe Castiglione believes Oklahoma is getting closer to resolving the NCAA investigation into its men's basketball program.

Castiglione said after a board of regents meeting Wednesday that there are "signs that we're moving toward resolution" and there "probably will" be developments he can comment on later this summer.

The university has been tightlipped about the investigation since acknowledging in April 2010 that it was working jointly with the NCAA in the process. The school has refused to release any records pertaining to the investigation, instead withholding them until the process is finished.

Former player Keith "Tiny" Gallon has said he took $3,000 from a Florida financial adviser so his high school would release his transcripts and he could play for the Sooners. Phone and e-mail records tied the adviser, Jeffrey Hausinger, to former Oklahoma assistant coach Oronde Taliaferro, who resigned following last season when the investigation was beginning.

"We're certainly hopeful to get it to a resolution soon," Castiglione said. "It just needs to be resolved. We've gathered every piece of information we could possibly gather and responded to every request, facilitated any and all interviews. We're just waiting for the next step."

Oklahoma was on probation for major rules violations involving hundreds of impermissible recruiting phone calls by former coach Kelvin Sampson at the time the new investigation started.

Jeff Capel, who was the Sooners' coach when Gallon was recruited, was fired in March and replaced by Lon Kruger.

The Oklahoma Sooners travel this weekend to Manhattan, KS to face the undefeated Kansas State Wildcats. Last weekend, the Sooners essentially lost their season after losing to Texas Tech at home. They were ranked #3 in the BCS and guaranteed a place in the BCS National Championship Game if they won the rest of their games. However, all those hopes are now gone.

Following such a heartbreaking loss, Coach Bob Stoops will have his work cut out for him trying to get his team to focus for a very good opponent in the Wildcats. The Wildcats, on the other hand, are still undefeated and have an outside shot of making it to the BCS National Championship Game. A win versus the Sooners will give the Wildcats the big win they need to make a major move in both the human and BCS polls.

In the following days, I will be updating adding relevant information to this blog concerning the game such as an in depth breakdown of the game, injury reports and Vegas lines.

Opened in November 2009, it showcases Oklahoma sports memorabilia of all kinds and the collection keeps growing.

The most recent items obtained by the museum are the batting practice jersey and spikes of Stillwater native Matt Holliday of the St. Louis Cardinals.

The museum is constantly trying to grow its collection but with only 9,800 square feet for display, there is not room for most of the items in its possession, said Justin Lenhart, museum director.

“That's big for a house but not that big for a museum,” Lenhart.

That's why the museum rotates exhibits twice a year, so even if you have been before, you likely will see something new on your next visit.

The same is true for memorabilia from the 127 members in the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.

“In order to give everybody their due, we rotate people through,” Lenhart said.

The Jim Thorpe Musuem also operates the Oklahoma Sports Museum in Guthrie.

In October, the museum is scheduled to open a 700-square foot gallery of Oklahoma sports history in the Oklahoma City Arena.

Exhibits in that gallery will be rotated annually, Lenhart said.

The marque game of week three occurs when the #1 Oklahoma Sooners travel to Tallahassee, FL to face the #5 Florida State Seminoles. Last year, when these teams met, Oklahoma whipped them 47-17 in Norman, OK. However, I would not expect to see the same results this year.

The Oklahoma Sooners have only played one game thus far, and it was against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. Offensively, OU dominated the Hurricanes, but their defense gave up 400 yards, including 271 in the air. They are led by their red-shirt, junior quarterback, Landry Jones, and their fifth year senior wide out, Ryan Broyles. In two years and one game, the two have connected 234 times for 2,900 yards, 30 TD's, and an average of 12.4 yards per play. Simply stated, the duo has been lethal and unstoppable for opposing defenses. However, the Sooners aren't just a passing team. They also have a rushing attack, led by Dominique Whaley, that gained 246 yards against the Hurricanes on 46 carries. Whaley is currently the 11th ranked running back in the nation following his 18 carries for 131 yards and 4 touchdowns in week one.

Unlike OU, the Seminoles had a game in weeks one and two, and exactly like OU they were against inferior opponents. The Seminoles defeated the ULM Warhocks 34-0 in week one and defeated the Charleston Southern Buccaneers 64-10 in week two. The FSU offense is also led by a red-shirt junior at quarterback. EJ Manuel, however, has sat behind Christian Ponder the previous two years. So far in 2011, he has completed 46 passes out of 69 attempts (66.7 CMP%) for 581 yards passing, 6 TD's, 2 interceptions, and a QB rating of 160.3. The Seminoles have struggled this season in their rushing game. Against inferior opponents, they have only averaged 131 yards on the ground per game.

Stat Comparison of the two teams
  • Rushing Offense - ranked 19th; 246.0 rushing yards per game
  • Passing Offense - ranked 3rd; 417.00 passing yards per game
  • Total Offense - ranked 1st; 663.00 total yards per game
  • Scoring Offense - ranked 12th; 47.0 points per game
  • Rushing Defense - ranked 60th; 129.00 rushing yards given up per game
  • Pass Defense - ranked 93rd; 271.00 passing yards given up per game
  • Total Defense - ranked 84th; 400.00 total yards given up per game
  • Scoring Defense - ranked 25th; 14.0 points given up per game

FSU Seminoles Statistics through Week Two
  • Rushing Offense - ranked  78th; 131.0 rushing yards per game
  • Passing Offense - ranked 7th; 378.50 passing yards per game
  • Total Offense - ranked 14th; 509.50 total yards per game
  • Scoring Offense - ranked 9th; 48.0 points per game
  • Rushing Defense - ranked 16th; 60.00 rushing yards given up per game
  • Pass Defense - ranked 5th; 77.50 passing yards given up per game
  • Total Defense - ranked 3rd; 137.50 total yards given up per game
  • Scoring Defense - ranked 4th; 5.0 points given up per game
In my opinion, the Sooners have the edge on offense, and the Seminoles have the edge on defense. OU is favored by 3, but I don't see them getting out of Tallahassee with the win. The Seminoles will be looking for redemption, and Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium is going to be rocking this Saturday Night. FSU, arguably, has the best set of defensive backs in the entire nation in Greg Reid, Mike Harris, and Xavier Rhodes. Along with the rowdy crowd, I expect them to confuse Jones and get him out of rhythm. If the game were in Norman, I wouldn't question the Sooners ability to outscore and slow FSU's offense enough to win the game. When it comes to two evenly matched teams, I always take the team with the better defense that is playing at home...admittedly, it is hard to really judge who has the better offense and defense at this point in the season when neither team has played anyone.

The winner of this game will have the inside path to the BCS National Championship game in New Orleans, LA. The loser will most likely be completely eliminated from the discussion until next season. Therefore, for both teams, their entire aspirations and goals for this season will be on the line Saturday night.

UPDATE
Oklahoma received the opening kick-off and began their opening drive at their own 20. After driving the length of the field, Oklahoma QB, Landry Jones, scored the first touchdown on a quarterback sneak. 15 plays, 80 yards - Oklahoma 7 FSU 0 - 8:35 in the first quarter

UPDATE
On its opening drive, FSU began at their own 25 yard line. After driving to the Oklahoma 23, the Seminoles QB, EJ Manuel, threw what appeared to be a touchdown. However, a holding penalty negated the points. Following that, the 'Noles were forced to settle for a field goal. 10 plays, 51 yards - Oklahoma 7 FSU 3 - 2:42 in the first quarter.

UPDATE
The FSU defense was able to get the ball back for their offense after Nigel Bradham intercepted Landry Jones' pass at the Oklahoma 45. However, after the 'Noles drove the ball to the Oklahoma 12, EJ Manuel was intercepted by Tom Wort.

UPDATE
Following the interception, the FSU defense causes the OU offense to go three and out returning the ball to the FSU offense at the FSU 14 following a fair catch by Greg Reid after Tress Way's punt. The Sooner defense returns the favor for their offense causing FSU to go three and out. Ryan Broyles fair catches Shawn Powell's punt at the Oklahoma 33

UPDATE
Oklahoma drove the ball to the FSU 6, but were only able to gain two more yards on three plays. The Sooners settled for a field goal. 7 plays, 63 yards - OU 10 FSU 3 - 8:17 in the second quarter.

UPDATE
Starting at their 25 yard line, EJ Manuel drove to midfield, but then threw an interception to Javon Harris at the Oklahoma 35. Harris returned the interception to the FSU four yard line. On four plays, the Seminoles kept the Sooners from getting into the end zone (there were four because there was a holding penalty on third down). The Sooners settled for a field goal as time ran out in the third quarter. OU 13 FSU 3.

1st Half Impressions
It didn't really feel like either team dominated the other. The difference has been the turnovers by FSU. This has been a defensive slug fest. For the most part the FSU defense has kept Landry Jones from really getting into rhythm and killing them. FSU gets the ball to start the third quarter.

Total Yards: OU 167 FSU 115 - Rushing Yards: OU 59 FSU 55 - Passing Yards: OU 108 FSU 60 - Turnovers: OU 1 FSU 2

UPDATE
The third quarter has been fairly slow for both offenses as both defenses have prevented any scoring. The first exciting play that occurred is when Landry Jones was intercepted by Lamarcus Joyner at the FSU 22 to give the 'Noles the ball and kill the Sooners drive. OU 13 FSU 3 - 4:00 in the third quarter. Also, FSU starting quarterback EJ Manuel has been injured and taken out of the game. In his place is red-shirt freshman Clint Trickett.

UPDATE
ON his first drive leading the offense, Trickett led FSU's offense to the Oklahoma 28. From there, Dustin Hopkins kicked his second field goal from 46 yards. OU 13 FSU 6 - 7 plays, 50 yards - 0:53 left in the third quarter

UPDATE
FSU punter, Shawn Powell, kicked the ball 69 yards from the FSU 25, and after a two yard loss by Broyles and a personal foul Oklahoma found themselves at their own two yard line. The FSU defense stuffed them. Then, Tress Way shanked the punt and gave FSU the ball at the Oklahoma 38 after a kick of only 37 yards.

UPDATE
On 3rd and 28, Trickett hit Rashad Greene for the 56 yard touchdown to tie up the game. FSU seems to be gaining the momentum and the crowd is playing a factor in this game. OU 13 FSU 13 - 4 plays, 38 yards - 9:32 left in the fourth quarter.

UPDATE
On the following Oklahoma drive, L Jones was able to lead the Sooner offense to their second touchdown of the game. On first and 10 from the FSU 37, Jones hit Kenny Stills for a 37 yard touchdown strike. OU 20 FSU 13 - 8 plays, 83 yards - 7:00 left in the fourth quarter.

UPDATE
FSU's Tricket threw an interception to Javon Harris at the FSU 46, following Landry's touchdown pass to give the Sooners the ball in excellent field position.

UPDATE
Oklahoma has just put the game away by scoring another field to take a ten point lead. OU 23 FSU 13 - 7 plays, 32 yards - 2:00 left in the fourth quarter.

Thorpe set a dozen Carlisle school records in track and field. The medals are on loan to the museum from the Thorpe family.

2. Bob Fenimore's All-American helmet and jersey: The leather helmet and jersey that Oklahoma State University's Bob Fenimore wore in the 1945 collegiate All-American football game is a real throwback. Fenimore was an All-American in both 1944 and 1945 and led the nation in rushing and total offense. He also played safety on defense, punted and returned punts and kicks.

3. Jim Shoulders spurs: A 16-time rodeo champion, this cowboy from Henryetta is the Babe Ruth of rodeo. Cowboys that visit the museum often comment about Shoulders' spurs being there, said Justin Lenhart, museum director. It's apparently a big deal for a cowboy to give up his spurs.

4. Steve Owens' Heisman Trophy: There is no bigger individual award in college football than the Heisman Trophy. The University of Oklahoma has five Heisman winners. The trophy won in 1969 by Owens, a Sooners' running back, is in the museum. He rushed for 1,523 yards and 23 touchdowns his Heisman season.

5. Sean O'Grady's championship belts: This boxer from Northwest Classen in Oklahoma City won world lightweight titles in 1980 and 1981. He won the North American Super Bantamweight crown in 1976. O'Grady was voted by ESPN.com as the best boxer ever from Oklahoma.

6. Warren Spahn's glove: Spahn and Sain and pray for rain. That was the famous line about the Boston Braves pitching rotation led by Warren Spahn and Johnny Sain.

Spahn didn't grow up in Oklahoma but lived much of his adult life at a ranch near Hartshorne. His son donated to the museum one of his Rawlings' glove that he used in the major leagues.

7. Susie Maxwell Berning's putter: The putter that Berning used to win the 1972 LPGA U.S. Open is at the museum. Berning, who was so good she earned a scholarship to played for the Oklahoma City University men's team, is only one of six women to win at least three U.S. Open titles, winning back-to-back crowns in 1972 and 1973.

8. Pepper Martin's 1931 World Series championship jacket and spikes: This native Oklahoman was the hero of the 1931 World Series for the St. Louis Cardinals. Martin set a World Series record with 12 hits to lead the Gashouse Gang to victory over Connie Mack's heavily favored Philadelphia Athletics.

9. John Jacobs' letter sweater: The track at the University of Oklahoma is named for John Jacobs, who set Sooner records in both high and low hurdles, high jump and long jump while running track from 1912-195. He became OU's track coach in 1922 and stayed until 1968.

10. Eddie Sutton's rings: Sutton led Oklahoma State University to two Final Four appearances in 2004 and 1995. Both of his diamond Final Four rings are on display at the museum.
