So we all see these young teens who get into acting, and we love watching them grow up into the gorgeous and talented people they are. I think we're mostly entertained by it because it makes us feel part of a family without having to actually deal with family. We can judge, make comment and admire but still turn the page or turn the T.V off when we get bored or annoyed with them. Now, how this is all coming into play is because of one Ms. Selena Gomez. The young and talented beautiful girl is most commonly known because of her part on Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place, she has also just branched into singing and is the "lucky" girl who gets to call Bieber her beau.
While I've "watched this girl grow", I saw the picture of what she wore upon arriving at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada and jeez! I know she's 18 and all but really? The sexy little number she was wearing is just a little too sexy for my taste for a star who is a year younger than myself. Sure, mainly this opinion comes from the fact that the kids who watch Wizards or are fans of Ms. Gomez's really look up to her and I wouldn't want any of my younger family members running around in this fancy little number.
To even quote Selena herself: "But at the end of the day, what you have inside is much more beautiful than what's on the outside!" and "I don't really like dressing up. Some people probably think actresses dress up everywhere they go. I'm in sweatpants half the time with my hair in a ponytail.". Seems all the pictures I see of her anymore she looks stunning and very much done up. Guess it was time for her to sprout wings, but still I gotta ask about the 2011 Billboard Music Awards: sexy or a little too inappropriate?

We all remember those small books we started off reading in Kindergarten. "See Spot Run" or "Left Foot Right Foot" or for me it was "Red Fish Blue Fish". Either way, I was at work today (I do child care) and one of the kids (age 6) came up to me and started talking to me like he was my age! I was in shock, no one, not even his brother is as advanced as this little kid. When I asked him how he knew all of this stuff he had a very simple one word answer: "books". I was pleasantly shocked at this answer. When I was little my mom made it a habit to go to the library and check out 10 books, I became advanced in reading and was often times two grade levels above my actual school grade. When I asked this kid what his favorite book was (expecting The Magic School Bus or something simple) he smiled and said: "The Hobbit, no competition." His brother chimed in "such a good movie", I quickly discovered that his brother meant the child's movie "The Hobbit" and that the kid I was talking to meant the huge book that even I have yet to read.
Just to test this kid I asked his favorite video game (I mean come on he's 6!) and he said that he doesn't play them, he'd rather read. His brother on the other hand loves the racing games and only reads the digital books. I started to wonder, do the digital books (that you can program to read to you) have as much benefit as the paper ones you can hold in your hand. I know there's benefits to digital books, heck even I own the "1000 Classic books" for my DS and love it because I don't have to carry heavy books everywhere. But with not having to hold the book, I have noticed I don't get as sucked into the text.
All over the US libraries are closing because lack of money, and yet there's technology everywhere that has books. I personally miss books, real paper books. I think people should work harder at keeping libraries open, rather than just shrugging it off. Even if its something as simple as a can drive, anything, I'm sure, would help.

How ridiculous is this starting to sound: you want a book to read well hey "there's an app for that". You lock your keys in the car... don't worry "there's an app for that". Don't get me wrong, I love the convenience of everything being right at my fingertips, but what if the locking your keys in the car gets a little more serious: you locked your phone in there too. Is there an app for that? Will someone know what to do (that causes the least damage) now that they don't have their phone? I was sitting in the bowling alley with my best friend the other day and he wanted to see the best bowling situation with how the oil was laid out on the lanes... well guess what "there's an app for that". I was like "what the heck?!". I think this app thing is getting a little out of control and is possibly making it so people don't know what to do if they DON'T have their phone with all its apps.

Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and MyYearbook. All these social networks to connect with friends, play all these games and stay updated on the latest celebrity gossip. We think these site are beyond helpful because its easy to stay in the "loop" without having to do any work... or even leave the comfort of the bed. On average teens alone spend 31 hours a week on the computer! I'm 19 and I can honestly say I love being on my computer because it feels like the world is at my finger tips. But I know I still get out of the house, exercise and actually communicate with people. With all this technology (I.E. Computers, telephones, game consoles) are people becoming socially awkward? Since we have the help of the computer as a safety shield, are we - as humans - becoming unable to socialize with people face to face? When I was in high school, my science teacher had to make a point in class to say to not use "text" in our essays. She had gotten an essay that had "2" instead of to or too, "u" instead of you and even an occasional "lol". This scares me! I use text abbreviations like lol, brb, ttyl and etc... but I can obviously still write without them. So here's my question for you: should we start limiting our time on our computers and start doing things with family and friends, maybe even pick up a good book or should we just "change with the times"?

I can't think of a girl who didn't swoon when they heard the upbeat, sultry and distinguishable voice of Usher. Then on top of that he can dance and he's rather attractive. Its a win-win-win for many girls. Come on, admit it... when him and Alicia Keys sang "My Boo" you wished he had been singing to you (I know I did). He was doing so well, music videos everywhere and on the top of the charts for weeks... then it seems he disappeared for a little bit.
Now he's back but his music has changed, he no longer has that distinguishable voice. I hear "DJ Got Us Falling In Love" or "OMG" and I always forget its Usher (ok not with DJ Got Us Falling since it says his name in the beginning). I personally miss his old stuff... wheres "Confessions part 2" and "Caught Up" or the ever so catchy, and popular high school dance song "Yeah"?
I know he has to change with the times, but this drastic of a change is crazy.

Football season is a very anticipated time across America and for the past few years we've all been able to count on one thing to start the football season: Brett Favre coming out of retirement (again). Its gotten so bad to where many American's are placing bets that he'll come back AGAIN! Now that Favre has ranked third on the farewell seasons of  Hall of Fame QBs, everyone is wondering "is he finally done?".

Farve says it's for good this time, but how many times have we heard that?! One thing he'd have to come back for: another superbowl ring and a chance to make the  Dream List of Hall of Fame. Favre almost made this list, and he would have if he had stayed retired the first time, and in statistics he should be on this list. You'd think the only thing keeping Favre from this list would be the bad feelings that have built up against him within the past few years.

One thing is for sure, whether he is done this season or not, when he is gone: there will never be another like him.

Cries were heard across the world when the word was finally out: Justin Bieber is dating Selena Gomez. They were seen hitting the red carpet together at Vanity Fair's Oscar Party on Sunday.
I'm sure a lot of people are wondering: is this a real relationship between the two young stars or is this all for fame?
Justin Bieber has been doing well with his CD and movie, but there's always room for more fans, right? The young star cleverly approached one of the many "put downs" there are about him in the Superbowl commercial he did. He himself said that he looks like a girl.
With all this fame, is Selena just riding the coat tails? Selena is also a young singer and actress. Very known for her part on Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly place, but it seems like her stage light is slowly dimming.
It would be a great stunt for the two to pull to get more fame. They get all the publicity now, and once the "ooh" and "aw" stops about them dating, it'll start up again once they break up.
So I must ask: is this about the relationship or fame?
