After Bernie Fine was publicly accused for sexually molesting former ball boy Bobby Davis, Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim vehemently defended him and called the accusations false. His defense of Fine included basically calling Davis and his brother a liar. He repeatedly said that there is nothing to see hear and that this case had already been investigated thoroughly.Well, it turns out that the kid making the accusations doesn't seem to be lying, and he actually collected evidence of Fine's wife corroborating his story via secret phone recordings (see below). Considering how staunch of a defense Boehiem gave for Fine, should he resign? In my opinion, I think he should because he came across as intimidating the injured party. He called Davis, the victim to the horrendous crime, a liar. He also mockingly brushed away the new accusations from a second ball boy because he is related to Davis. He acted as though the second victim's account should be disregarded as "convenient" on the basis for being related to the first victim, Davis. I think he went to far and should be held accountable. It just seems like he was trying to help his friend instead of trying to protect helpless children.
The Big East may be the premier college basketball conference, but it absolutely stinks in college football. Last season, a Big East team got to go to a BCS game even though no teams in the Big East were in the final BCS Top 25. This year, only the West Virginia Mountaineers are currently ranked, and they are only the 23rd best team in the nation. In my opinion this is undeserving of a BCS Bowl Game and allowing them to go is rewarding mediocrity. Next year, the Big East will lose WVU, the Pittsburgh Panthers, and the Syracuse Orange because they are leaving the conference to join the Big 12 (WVU) and the ACC (Pitt and Syracuse). Once the Mountaineers and Panthers leave the conference, the Big East will no longer have any tradition or history of great football. It will be a conference made up of second and third class teams.I obviously think they should lose their automatic bid already, and I don't think I really need to spend too much time explaining my argument because most people, including the media, agree with me. If you disagree, then please let me know why in the comments below.Should the Big East lose its automatic bid to a BCS Bowl Game?
The Clemson Tigers will face the Virginia Tech Hokies in Charlotte, NC on Sat, Dec 3 at 8:00 PM ET in the 2011 ACC Championship Game for a spot in a BCS Bowl Game. These two teams met in week five when Clemson dominated the Hokies in their house 23-3. At that time, the Tigers were on fire. They beat the Auburn Tigers, the FSU Seminoles, and then the Hokies in a row. Since their first meeting, the Hokies have been dominating their competition and enter the ACC Championship with a seven game winning streak. The Tigers, on the other hand, have struggled, losing three of their last four games. Generally speaking, Clemson has the better offense and VA Tech has the better defense. I expect a better game this time around. The Tigers have lost whatever spark was carrying them earlier in the season, and the Hokies seemed to have found it. I think the Hokies will not only win this game, but they will completely turn the tide on the Tigers and dominate them. What do you think?Clemson vs Virginia Tech Who will win the ACC Championship Game?
The Wisconsin Badgers will face the Michigan State Spartans on Sat, Dec 3 at 8:00 PM ET in Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis, IN. The Badgers find themselves currently ranked 15 in the BCS Standings, and are two last second plays away from being undefeated and in perfect position to play in the BCS National Championship game. They will be looking for revenge against the Spartans because one of those last second plays occurred to them the first time these teams met in the regular season. In that game, MSU quarterback, Kirk Cousins, beat Wisconsin by throwing a 44 yard Hail Mary to Keith Nichol as time ran out. After having the very same thing happen to them a week later against the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Badgers have now won four in a row.Michigan State is currently ranked 13 in the BCS Standings due to losses versus the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Like the Badgers, the Spartans enter the inaugural Big 10 Championship Game having won their last four games in a row. These teams are very evenly matched up. Last time they played, the game came down to the final play. I expect the same to occur in the Championship Game. I give Wisconsin a slight nod because of quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Montee Ball. They will be the two best players on the field. The winner of this game will face the winner of the inaugural PAC 12 Championship Game between UCLA and Oregon in the Rose Bowl. What do you think? The first PAC 12 Championship Game will be held on Fri, Dec 2, 2011 at 8:00 PM ET when the UCLA Bruins travel to Autzen Stadium in Eugene, OR to play the Oregon Ducks. The Bruins are 6-6 and are coming off a 50-0 blowout loss to their main rival, the USC Trojans. UCLA has been far from stellar this season, and even suffered an embarrassing loss to the non-BCS Houston Cougars in week one. On the other hand, the Ducks have had a pretty good season. To some Oregon fans, this season might be somewhat of a letdown. Last year, the Ducks were undefeated in the regular season but lost to the Auburn Tigers in the BCS National Championship Game. Many, if not most, Ducks fans were expecting to make it back to the big game again, but had their dreams shattered after losing to the LSU Tigers in week one. The winner clinches a bid to go to the Rose Bowl to face the winner of the Big 10 Championship Game. As 30½-point favorites, is there anyway the Ducks can actually lose to the Bruins? Seriously, does UCLA have any shot at pulling the major upset?UCLA Bruins vs Oregon Ducks Who wins the 1st PAC 12 Championship Game?
Entering the 2011 college football season, it was universally known Matt Barkley would face a big decision at the end of this year. As Mark Saxon, blogger for ESPN.com, put it, "we knew he'd be starting at a potential high selection in next April's NFL draft and weighing that against the possibility of the Trojans making a nice run in 2012. But we didn't know it was going to be like this, as the stakes involved in Barkley's decision to stay or go have been dramatically raised over the past month-plus." Saxon continues arguing Barkley now "has two good choices: (1) Go to the NFL and he's a guaranteed first-rounder, probable top-15 pick and possible top-5 selection, or (2) stay at USC and start the 2012 season in the top 5 nationally with a chance to break every remaining school career passing record." Barkley's tenure with the USC Trojans has been overshadowed by the Reggie Bush scandal that has USC on probation. Next season USC is off probation and if Barkley returns, they will start the season in the top 5 in the nation. Barkley hasn't had the opportunity to go to a bowl game or even compete for a BCS National Championship. Barkley will obviously be very well compensated financially if he enters the 2012 NFL Draft, and nobody could blame him for going. However, the NFL isn't going anywhere and he would be drafted just as high if not higher in 2013 if he stays his senior year. On the other hand, if he decides to leave, then he'll never have the opportunity to play for a college championship or win a Heisman Trophy (he's assured to be the early front-runner in 2012). In the end, it is a decision he has to make based on what is best for him. What do you think he should do? Should he enter the 2012 NFL Draft or stay for his senior season?
We know the 5 Hour Energy commercials are bad, but somehow they get us talking. Here's a compilatoin of some of the worst. Tell me which is at the bottom of the barrel.
Here is Michael Jordan's quote from USA Today: "It's less physical and the rules have changed, obviously. Based on these rules, if I had to play with my style of play, I'm pretty sure I would have fouled out or I would have been at the free throw line pretty often and I could have scored 100 points." The highest he ever scored was 69 points against Cleveland on March 28, 1990. Kobe Bryant's highest scoring game is 81. I think Jordan was at a level above Kobe in his prime, but scoring another 10 buckets is tough. What do you think? Was Michael Jordan Right? Could he score 100 points in today's NBA?
I used to think the Situation was cool as hell, but lately he seems to be one of the biggest haters I have ever seen. First, he doesn't negate his boy Ronnie's girl, Sammie, when she reads the letter concerning Ronnie's cheating to him. He tells her whatever is in the letter is what she needs to know. Then, he recently went up to his roommate Angelina's boyfriend/date, whatever they are, and told him that Angelina has something she needs to tell him. The Situation was referring to Angelina having sex with their other roommate Vinny. In both cases, he basically was a rat and assisted in getting people caught for cheating. I think he's hater, what do you think?
